By using Secret for a Secret ("the app"), you agree to these terms. Please read them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1You must be 18 or older
The app is for adults only. By using it you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. Secrets can touch on mature themes and the app is rated accordingly.
2What the app is
Secret for a Secret lets you anonymously release a personal secret and, in return, catch and read a secret written by a stranger. You can light a "candle" to show a secret moved you, keep a secret you want to read again, or report one. There are no profiles, no names, and no way to reply to or contact another person.
3Your secrets, and the rules
You keep ownership of what you write. By releasing a secret, you grant us a licence to store it and show it anonymously to other users of the app. You are responsible for what you write, and you agree not to release anything that:
- identifies a real, named person other than yourself, or shares someone's private information;
- is unlawful, threatening, or incites harm to yourself or others;
- harasses, defames, or targets a specific private individual;
- is sexually explicit, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way;
- is spam, advertising, promotion, or a scam;
- infringes anyone's copyright or other rights.
4Lanterns and other in-app items
Lanterns, candles, and similar items exist only inside the app. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred. Reads are limited each night; you earn more by releasing a secret of your own.
5The app is free
This version of Secret for a Secret costs nothing. There are no purchases, no subscriptions, and no advertising. If that ever changes, the price and terms will be shown in the app before you agree to anything, and this page will be updated first.
6No guarantee of privacy from other users
A secret you release is meant to be read by strangers. Do not include anything you are not willing for others to see. Once released, a secret is in the shared pool.
7The app is provided "as is"
We work to keep the app safe and available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not guarantee that screening catches everything. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided without warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of it.
8Changes and ending use
We may update these terms; the date above will change and significant updates will be noted in the app. You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend access for anyone who breaks these terms.
